The news continues to tell me we’re about to hit some hard times. Seemingly every expert is saying if the bailout doesn’t take, we’re going to be in serious trouble.

Besides the obvious conclusions, how will we be in serious trouble? Is there an outline anywhere of the butterfly effect this will have on the world?

It’s driving me crazy that people all over the internet don’t understand how the credit crisis might affect them. Here are a few points that probably affect almost everyone. I’m not saying that any of these things definitely will happen - I’m saying that the current crisis makes these things more likely to happen. The worrisome part is that these problems affect regular people not just really rich people or really poor people.

Home prices may fall
- Your house might be hard to sell
- It might be hard to qualify for buying a new home
- It might be hard to quaify for a loan of any kind because you owe more on your house than it is worth
- More people might move from homes to apartments, causing apartment prices to rise.
Credit may be hard to obtain
- If you want to buy a car, a house, or start a business you usually need a loan to get started. Banks do not have unlimited funds available to loan out. When there is less money, they charge you more to borrow it and they require you to have a better credit rating.
- If you already have debt, it may become more expensive because of higher interest rates.
Even if you pay for everything in cash, your cash will buy less. This is called inflation.
- This means that if you have $20,000 saved for a down payment on a new home, and you qualify for a $200,000 loan, that money would have been enough to buy a 3-bedroom house in a nice neighborhood, but now you can only afford that house in a worse neighborhood
- If you have a large amount of savings, you will get less return on that money because of lower interest rates. It might seem strange that loans will cost you more AND at the same time savings will make you less money, but this is caused by having less money available in the economy.
Companies may lose money, causing layoffs

The only people not affected by these problems are people with very little cash and very little debt that have jobs that are unlikely to sufer layoffs in a down economy. I can’t think of any examples of a person like this, but I’m sure they exisit. Also, I am not a financial expert, I’m just using common sense. Please reblog if you have other ideas.

This should be mandatory reading for anyone making the argument that bands can just make up for lost album sales by hitting the road. Actually, it should be read by anybody interested in what it’s like for bands out there today. Lucas did a really good job on it.

Adam Campbell: Some breeds are easier to own than others. I don’t believe there is one specific breed that can be singled out. Terriers can be high strung, dominant and stubborn which makes it difficult to control them around distractions. Bulldogs can be dominant and stubborn as well and sometimes very uncooperative. However, even Labs and Golden Retrievers who are typically thought to be easiest to train can be very difficult as well at times. I think it is the indvidual dogs personality and temperament which determines how easy or difficult they will be to train as well as the owners expectations.
